What is HDTS?
HDTS, the Hungarian Down Traceability System, stands as the pinnacle of traceability efforts in Hungary. Developed by the Hungarian Poultry Product Council, HDTS emerged as a robust response to the influx of fake Hungarian down products in the market. Its primary objective is unequivocal: to authenticate that the down material is indisputably of 100% Hungarian origin.
The Hungarian Poultry Council boasts an extensive membership that encompasses prominent Hungarian goose and duck hatcheries, farmers, breeders, and slaughterhouses. This broad membership signifies that the majority of Hungarian Feather Raw Material originates from Association members. The Council undertakes rigorous audits of companies within the supply chain. When records confirm the down material’s exclusive origin from an association member, a certification is duly awarded.
End consumers, upon purchasing the final product, whether jackets, duvets, or futons, can swiftly scan this QR Code or manually input the tracking number.
The scanned QR Code directs the consumer to a comprehensive website detailing the nuances of their down filling. This includes its origin farm and history, meticulous laboratory testings, breed specifics, down content, and its filling power. Presented via an intuitive user interface, it ensures customers are well-informed about their purchase.
Ethical sourcing means the purity of the supply chain. It ensures that all its members comply with the European Union’s strictest animal welfare and hygiene standards from farm to finished product. We never use down from force-fed and plucked animals. The down we use is SafeDown certified, which ensures compliance with European standards.
HDTS is integrated with SafeDown, a stringent biosecurity standard. This synergy ensures that products not only resonate with assured origins through HDTS but also comply with the strictest European biosecurity standards through SafeDown, offering a unified, marketable certification of utmost reliability and quality.
